Day two.
They've started grading the property behind us. There are (were?) two huge boulders that need to be removed. Yesterday they used an enormous pneumatic jack hammer to break them up. One boulder was pulverized yesterday, today it's the second boulder's turn. I think it's kind of a shame since they were a couple of awesome rocks, but progress marches on.
And so yesterday and today, all damn day, we get to hear the hammer go bang, bang, bang, etc. It's boring a hole into my brain. Oh well, today should do it.
Last night we had Anne and Carl here for dinner. It's just great being with them. I wish we lived closer. Man, you can't get much farther away than we are without crossing an ocean. Anyway, we had a good time. I don't know if I'll get to see them again before they leave.
Stuff to do, stuff to do. Gotta go through the records. Andy told me about a guy back east who buys and sells records. I need to call him today. Andy told him about the records and he's interested. So, I need to get the ones I want to keep out of there.
I'll try to get another truck estimate today. Clean house. Walk at 6.

About 10 years ago a guy behind us built a basement for his collection of cars. Pneumatic drill for SIX MONTHS (Texas is all rock six inches below the dirt where we are). At least I knew where I was going to run in a tornado alert.

There oughta be a law...
Man, that must have cost him some big bucks. Heh! I wonder if that basement flooded from all the rain you've been having.
A few years ago up in Sonoma County they were building a BIG building at Sonoma State. They had a pile driver going for months. Jeanne lived just a few blocks from there. I don't see how she kept her sanity.
Tonight I walked with Ken, Sherri, Jessica and her new boyfriend, Greg. What a pleasant guy. We started out at a pretty fast pace. Well, fast for me, anyway. Greg is one fit dude. This was a casual stroll for him.
We went up the steep way. I had to slow way down and at the big curve I took a rest. Paused again on the bridge. Jess and Greg had jogged off. I was very glad to reach the top. That was a good walk. I feel kind of delicious. Or maybe delirious.
Today's morning meds went well. He also seems to be doing a better job of remembering his evening pills. He's cheery. Ok for now. I'll take it!
Debbie is coming at the end of this month. We'll have some work days and a family meeting. I'm looking forward to it.
I talked to Andy's friend, Scott. He's interested in buying some of the records. He's only interested in jazz, blues, funk and whatever else is kind of like jazz, blues and funk. He also only wants records that are in good condition. He might be disappointed in this collection. But he understands this and he's coming out to see them anyway... from Massachusetts!
I know!
But he's Andy's best friend so he's going to get a good visit out of the deal. He said he wants to take a couple days to look through all of them. I suggested we wait until the weather gets a bit cooler. So, for now the plan is to do it at the end of September. Cool, eh? I hope it's worth it for him.
Oh goodie! I've just been dying to know more about what you've got in that record collection. It'll be way cool to know what an expert thinks of it.
Oh is THAT what that @#$%ing banging was!
P.s. You forgot to tell them about the part where we might not have to pay $15,000 in loan moneys!
Wow! The guy is really coming for the records?? That's so cool-we were amazed at how Andy knows EVERYONE! We're waiting to hear back from a woman Carl's working with (in Catskill, NY) re: a connection with Andy's mom!
We enjoyed the BBQ so much the other night- Thankyou for everything-in too short a time we'll be headed back east- wahhhhhh!!!
Oh yeah, the loan! We got a notice saying that since Jim has died Lindsay's loan is forgiven. That seemed too good to be true so I called them. Yep, it's true. I told them that Lindsay still needed a loan since she has one more year of school and they said that won't make any difference. We can get a new loan in her name or mine. So, there ya go. $15,000.
Anne- Yeah, Andy is totally connected. When you find the woman in Catskill tell us about it here.
It was great seeing you guys!
Boy, it just doesn't stop. Lindsay just left to take a friend to LA. She called to tell me that she saw a woodpecker sitting at the bottom of the driveway. She was worried that it was going to get squished. I went down there and sure enough, there was a baby bird just sitting there. I came back up. got some gloves and a box and went back to try to catch it. It's almost full grown and it can almost fly. The parents were flying around and screeching. Every time I tried to catch him he'd hop away. I guided him back up the driveway and managed to catch him at the top. There's no way I can return him to the top of the 50 foot palm tree where his parents live so I brought him inside.
After a few phone calls to a bunch of people who offered no reasonable help I called the Magnolia Bird Farm. They're going to take him. At first they were giving me instructions on how to feed him. No, I'm already up to my eyeballs in animals. I'm not going to feed baby food to a woodpecker three times a day! They said, ok, bring him in.
So, now I'm off to deliver a bird.
Oh a widdle woodpecker! How cwoooooooooote!
Actually, he was pretty cute. Almost full-grown but not a good enough flyer. Now he's getting some care.
I liked the Magnolia Bird Farm. It made me want to build an aviary in my back yard.
Yay! Thank you for saving him, momma! I was thinking when I called, aw geeze, she doesn't need any more wounded animals to deal with! But I thought he at least oughta be moved so he would have SOME chance for survival. Thanks for going the distance. :)
What is with this damn farm that screams animal refuge to all the critters out there! >.<
Yeah, I'm still afraid that starving horse will show up.
The bang, bang, banging probably got that baby bird to jump out if the nest! Glad you got him/her to the Mag Bird farm. My mom used to sell them her cockatiels.
Maybe the hammering will keep all lonely animals out of your yard?
Heh! But it was a woodpecker. Aren't they used to banging? Man, that little booger had a formidable beak.
I think the hammering is driving the animals TOWARDS this place!
I wasn't being sarcastic. I think a woodpecker would be vewwwy cwoooooote!

I know you weren't being sarcastic. But I am a little worried that you're turning into Elmer Fudd.
