I rented a storage unit. It actually gave me a nice little jolt to do that. Makin' it real. The move is a-happenin'. I've already moved in the first truckload. Gonna do another one this afternoon.
Today Sherri is writing up an offer for the second house I'm trying for. It's quite a bit lower than what they're asking but we figure it's worth a try. They can always counter. This house is the mirror image of the other one. They've enclosed the patio to make a big family room and a small whatever room. The office has been turned into a dining room and the kitchen has been opened up. I really like the kitchen. I don't like the countertops but I could live with them for a while. The whole house has lots of Grandma wallpaper to deal with. It's 1700 sf. Just about the perfect size. Nice back yard, HUGE orange tree.
This would be a fun house to play with. The basics are all good. Lots of 1950's style, which I love. It's got great windows. I'd turn the dining room back into an office/music studio. The whatever room would be perfect as an art studio. Loads of light. The tv would be in the family room which would leave the living room tv free. I'd like that. The tile in the main bathroom is pink with burgundy trim. I can't decorate around that! Rip it out!
Ok. Stop doing this and go pack.

It's not that cool 50s pink tile? Is it in good shape?

I have all my body parts crossed that you get that house!
Dean- No, it's not the cool stuff. I mean, it might be original but that combination really didn't work.
Virginia- I thank your crossed parts.
An yeah, yeeee-haw, I'm moving!
Yesterday Dad fell. He was trying to get something off a high shelf in his tv room. He was standing on the fireplace bricks, which put him about 14 inches off the floor. He lost his balance and fell backward on top of this huge speaker that sits next to his tv.
I had just pulled up in the driveway when Lindsay called and said that Grandpa called and said he had fallen. I went right over there and found him sitting at the kitchen desk. His hand was bloody and he looked pretty dazed. I asked him about the fall. He stood up and lifted his shirt. There was a pretty big scrape and bruise on his back. I had him raise his arms and twist at the waist. I told him to take a big breath. None of this hurt him much so I figured he hadn't broken anything. The blood was from a small cut on his finger. We talked about taking him to the emergency room but it didn't seem like he was really injured so we decided to wait. I came home and called David. He agreed that it didn't sound like Dad needed to go to the ER.
I grabbed some Vicodin and went back to Dad's. I gave him the Vicodin and his evening meds. Then I picked the speaker up. Man, he must have landed right on top of it.
This morning he's in pain but the bruise doesn't look any worse. I gave him some more Vicodin. He doesn't have much food in the house because he's leaving for Texas so I came home and fixed him some breakfast. When I took it back over I checked on Lady. One side of her face is a little swollen and she wouldn't let me touch it. I think she might have an abcessed tooth. While Dad is in Texas I'm going to take her to the vet and get that checked out plus bring her shots up to date. That's dog's life is about to get much better. I'll keep her with me this week.
Yep, I'm moving.
Man, that is kinda scary, he could have killed himself. I worry about falling elderly people, isn't thqt funny?
Oh yeah, the way he fell it could have been much worse. Usually when I tell him not to get up on things he gives me that I've-been-doing-it-my-whole-life thing. This time when I told him he said, "Yeah, that was pretty stupid".
Doesn't sound like he has osteoporosis, or his osteoporosis medicine works great.
Nope, no osteoporosis that we know of.
I have the week off. No Dad duty. We're going to fill a couple of dumpsters this weekend. I'm going to a show in LA with Lindsay and Kyle on Saturday night. I'm working at Michael's in the morning. Full day.
