Junk art

I mined the junk yard the other day. Brought back some promising pieces. I'm making a big, goofy face out of them. I don't know how to weld so I'm wiring the whole thing together. Should last a few years at least. So far it looks pretty good. Where should I hang it?

It's a little side trip away from the uke case. I couldn't find gold velvet anywhere in town but I found some on E-bay. That auction ends in 3 days. It's more than I need but I can use it to line the case that I'll make for myself later. Jim needs to do the wiring for the light before I can do the lining.

Today we're going to walk around Lake Evans at Fairmount Park. I may try to get in two laps.

Wire is good. So is solder if you have it. How'd it turn out? Are you going to take a pic and post it?
I was going to handpaint some fabric but didn't. Wanted to paint something in cool colors but all I have is warm colors. And the fabric I have lying about is brown.

So I'm reading a book instead.

It's not finished yet. I've also added some colored wire and beads. I haven't decided how far I'm going to take it. I like to embellish the hell out of stuff so the whole thing could be covered by the time I'm finished.

Have you done a lot of fabric painting? I used to do silk painting so I have a little experience. I want to paint some canvas drop cloths and turn them into curtains. I bought a variety of fabric paints at Michael's to do some experimenting. I'd like to do some kind of retro 50's thing. I still need to work out a pattern.

I'll start working on this after the freakin' jacaranda tree stops its flower assault. I want to work on it out in the yard so I'll have plenty of room. But not until those flowers are gone.

I've done a little fabric painting. Made some valances out of canvas and painted those (and they're still up in my living room). Used Gesso and acrylics for that.

I have some water based resist for silk painting, however never got around to doing the silk painting. LOL, also have some Dynaflo dyes.

Also, years ago, did batik and I'm thinking the resist is mucho easier than melting was.

Embellishing is good, there's always room for more embellishing.

Did you feel the earthquake this mornin?

Ooh yeah! It was a 5.6 and it was a bit south of Palm Springs.

The junk sculpture has been installed. It's hanging on the fence next to our driveway. I think it looks pretty good there. Hard to tell since it was getting dark when we were hanging it.

Jim likes it. He wants to put junk sculptures everywhere.

Jim is kindred spirit with Jim then. Bill would fill our yard if he had his druthers.
