I was going to walk today...

...But I didn't want to DIE of smoke inhalation!

Gotta couple out of control fires nearby. Actually, not that near but they're big and the wind is blowing it all this way. So, I'll walk tomorrow.

I was looking forward to today's walk because Mt. Rubidoux caught fire last night. It always does during the fireworks show. The city cleared all the brush under the fireworks launching area. They cleared other areas as well. They always have fire crews on hand during the show. It's kind of a tradition around here.

But I've never seen the aftermath. I guess it'll still be there tomorrow.

How was the aftermath? Have you gone up yet? The air still has a bad quality to it with all the fires and such.

I'll see it in about an hour. Jeff said he might drag Pam's family up there tonight. Heh! We'll see. Anyway, I'm going. The air isn't as bad as it was yesterday.

Bwhahahahaha, no way will the cousins walk the mt. The MIL keeps telling all of us that we should all go up the mt because it's so beautiful. Pretty much everyone rolls their eyes at her suggestion.

Hmmm, beautiful? Not so much this time of year. Too smoggy. But it's gorgeous in early Spring. Especially after a thunderstorm and the clouds are big and billowy and there's snow on the mountains.

The aftermath was kind of interesting. The north side of the mountain is completely burned. I guess that happened on Sunday. I saw 3 smaller burn areas that were started by the fireworks. I was surprised that only the short grasses burned and not the huge masses of dried up mustard plants.

At the top where they launched the fireworks they spread out a huge amount of sand. Jim thinks they used a big sand box to set the mortars in. After the show they spread it out. That seems about right.
